Gift of Healing

Spiritual Gift of Healing By Kelli Mahoney Spiritual Gift of Healing in Scripture:: 1 Corinthians 12:8-9 - "To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing." NLT Matthew 10:1 - "Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness." NLT Luke 10:8-9 - “If you enter a town and it welcomes you, eat whatever is set before you.9 Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’' (NLT) James 5:14-15 - "Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven." (NLT) What is the Spiritual Gift of Healing?: Those who have the spiritual gift of healing are given a supernatural gift to heal the sick and reveal God to others. They have an immense amount of trust in God to physically restore those who are sick, and they pray for healing those who need it. While this gift is supernatural, it is not guaranteed. This gift provides a sense of hope and encouragement to those who need, and they know that it is not their power to bestow, but God's power, in his time. There can be present a temptation to fall into a sense of pride or entitlement with this gift, and others can be tempted to idolize those with the gift of healing. Is Healing My Spiritual Gift?: Ask yourself the following questions. If you answer "yes" to many of them, then you may have the spiritual gift of healing: Do you feel a need to help the sick or hurt? Do you know, just know in your heart, that God can heal anyone of anything? Do you get excited about how God reveals himself to non-believers and new believers through healings? Do others come to you to pray for those who are sick or ill? Do you feel an urge to pray when you hear people are hurting?
